KU Championship

Just as always, March Madness did not disappoint this year. Crazy-ended and exciting games were played all through March and April.  A tournament filled with upsets, there were no perfect brackets this year. Surprises in every other game, fans were hooked on watching this year’s tournament. All of that excitement ended with the best surprise… the largest comeback in NCAA championship history.

The KU men’s basketball program won its 3rd national championship this year. Their last is the 2008 title. Both championships were won under coach Bill Self who also led KU to become the winningest team in NCAA Division I history.

KU was a top pick to win this year with 7% of brackets picking them. Lawrence held a parade on Sunday in celebration of their comeback win. Many came to see the championship team in support. Players rode in pairs in cars, signing shirts and basketballs for the Jayhawk fans.

Lots of people doubted KU and their chance of winning, but they pulled through with the win. High expectations will be held for the next year in the next March Madness run. Go Jayhawks!
